Henry Thomas Pitchford

Henry Thomas Pitchford (Henry Junior) transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home, February 1, 2023, at Warren Hill Nursing Home, Warrenton, NC. Henry was born January 18, 1942, to the late Henry Ashley Pitchford, Sr and the late Geneva Williams Pitchford. He was reared in Warren County and was educated in the Warren County Public School system.

At an early age realizing he needed Christ in his life, he accepted Christ and joined Coley Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton, where he remained faithful until his health started to decline.

Henry became a leader in his family and community at a young age. As a big brother to his sisters and brothers he helped to set an example by helping cook, clean and watching over them. He soon met Dorothy Mae Townes, the love of his life and in1960 they were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union four sons were born.

Henry believed in making a difference. He worked with the youth in the community by starting a Boy Scouts Club in the county. He became a Deacon at Coley Springs Baptist Church, member of the NAACP, and Chairman for Warren County Board of Education. He was a member of the Hawkins Alumni. He was employed at the Pickle Plant in Henderson and Peck Manufacturing Company in Warrenton, where he retired. Not being able to sit at home he went back to work at Granville Farms, Oxford, NC, and part time Lawn Care. Henry’s hobby was bowling. He was a member of the Guys and Dolls Bowling Club.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry, Sr. and Geneva Pitchford, one brother, James Lee Pitchford and one sister, Roselle Copeland. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 62 years Dorothy of the home, four sons, Danny Pitchford of Henderson, NC, Kim Pitchford (Lisa) of England, Mark Pitchford (Elaine) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Ricky Pitchford (Felicia) of Oxford, NC., eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. Three sisters, Clementine Williams (Charlie) of Warrenton, NC, Annie Pressley (John) of Cheltenham, PA., and Lillian Kersey (Glen) of Lanham, MD. Two brothers, Clifton Pitchford (Linda) and Walter Pitchford (Emily) all of Warrenton, NC. Four sisters-in-law, Margaret, Vivian, Mary and Georgia, three brothers-in-law, Esso, Donald and Otis and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

There will be a public viewing on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 3:00PM to 7:00PM at Alight Feggins & Feggins Cremation & Mortuary Services.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday February 7, 2023, at 11:00AM, at United Solid Rock Faith Ministries 1020 US Highway 158 W., Norlina, NC 27563.
