Ava Laniece Davis

ObituaryAva Laniece Davis, daughter of Elder Barbara Moten and the late Joseph Nathan Davis was born on July 18, 1972 in Arlington Virginia. She departed this life on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Nathan Davis; two brothers, Joseph Nathan Davis Jr., and Ricky Jovan Gray, and two sisters, Angela Davis and Myra Davis.  

Ava completed her high school education at Washington Lee High School in Arlington Virginia and graduated from nursing school as a Practical Nurse. For 17 years, she worked at Arlington County School Board as a Before & After School Teacher.

Since birth and until she relocated to Henderson NC, Ava was a member of Church of God Which Jesus Purchased With His Own Bloodline in Arlington VA. While in Henderson NC, Ava was a dedicated member of United Prayer of Faith Holy Church under the leadership of Pastor Eugene Perry and later she moved her membership to Room at the Cross PHC where she was not only an active member but a great supporter to the ministry. She will be truly missed.

Ava leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Rikki Jovanna Ashley Moten and two sons, Isaiah Lee Dickerson and Noah William Dickerson and one grandson, Jeremiah Jovan Bullock all of Henderson NC; her mother, Elder Barbara Moten of the home and her daddy, Ellsworth Gray of Arlington VA; seven sisters, Lisa Davis-Booze of Washington DC, Tracy Davis of Washington DC, Talatha Pickett (Ronald) of Washington DC, Vivian Thomas (Ronald) of MD, Ingrid Dandrige (Donnie) of Winchester VA, Betty Gray of Baltimore MD, and Divine Moten of Henderson NC; two brothers, James Tate of Baltimore MD, and Fitzgerald Gray of Laconia NH; three aunts, Janice Whiting of Arlington VA, Audrey Moten-Smith (Roland) of Arlington VA, and Shelia Moten-Brown of Alexandria VA; 3 uncles, Ricky Moten (Linda) of Charlotte NC, Cornelius Whiting and Larry Whiting of Arlington VA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held at Alight & Feggins & Feggins Friendly Home of Memorial on Friday September 23, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 7:30PM.
