On Friday June 3, 2022, God called Barbara L Hines form labor to reward. Barbara L Hines was born on December 26, 1935, to the late Hugh Benton Leach and Sarah Hester Leach in Coats, North Carolina.

Barbara was educated in the Harnett County Schools System. She received her license to practice Practical Nursing on October 18, 1957. She retired from Duke Health Systems after 38 years of service. After retirement, Barbara worked as a private duty nurse until her health began to decline. She was an active member of Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church and served on various auxiliaries within the church. She also served as choir director. She loved singing with her family group. She also loved cooking and working in her garden. She was a seamstress for many. She was well known in her community and love to help and serve others.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband Edward Hines Sr and her siblings, Vera Harrning, Wyvonne McLain, Mattie C. Peacock, Hillery E. Leach, Benjamin F. Leach, Beulah L Farrington, James Leach, Frances Covington, Ezzie Leach.

Barbara Hines was married to the late Edward Hines Sr. for 48 years, and of this union three children were born. She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Edward Hines Jr., two daughters: Julia H Johnson (Leonard), and Debra Hines, all of Durham NC. A brother Benton Leach Sr. of Baltimore Maryland, a sister in-law Josephine Leach of Fort Lauderdale Fl, a great nephew Robert Hines (Kerry) of Henderson NC; and a host of other nieces, nephews’ other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Ms. Barbara Leach Hines will be held on June 9, 2022, in Durham, NC at the Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church located at 505 E. End Ave. Durham, NC 27703. There will be a viewing from 10:30AM and the Funeral Service will begin at 11:00AM. There will be a public viewing on June 8, 2022 from 1:00PM to 8:00PM at the Alight & Feggins & Feggins Friendly Home of Memorials located at 501 S. Chestnut Street Henderson, NC 27537.
